CSI sessional instructor, Stephen Broomer's out of pocket work to preserve and widely release experimental Canadian cinema from the 1960s and beyond was recently profiled in a The Globe and Mail article, "Preserving the history of Canadian experimental film, on Blu-ray."
The article covers a recent screening at Innis Town Hall of Home For Christmas. The event celebrated the latest release from Black Zero, a company founded by Broomer to preserve and release Blu-ray collections of work by important Canadian filmmakers. Not only do the Black Zero Blu-rays make the films more accessible by offering the option of home viewing, the bonus features on the Black Zero Blu-rays help contextualize the films for contemporary audiences.
More Black Zero Blu-rays will be released in 2025 including its first boxed-set.
Congratulations to Stephen Broomer for having his passion project recognized and promoted to a wider audience.
