Biography
Josh Cabrita is a PhD student at the Cinema’s Studies Institute. After completing a BA in Art, Performance, and Cinema Studies at Simon Fraser University, he worked as a Programming Assistant at the Vancouver International Film Festival. In 2021, he began a MA degree in Cinema and Media Studies at York University, where he wrote a thesis on Gilles Deleuze’s Cinema 1: The Movement-Image and Cinema 2: The Time-Image. His work focuses on issues in contemporary film poetics and narratology, and often engages with Deleuze’s film theory, Robert Brandom’s philosophical semantics, and Immanuel Kant’s critical metaphysics.
