Cinema Studies Institute alumna, Alaine Hutton has created and will star in HONEY I"M HOME, a new dark comedy at the Factory Theatre. An ordinary workaholic, Janine, uploads her consciousness into her home to escape her raging boredom at work. But when slow Wi-Fi leads to a shocking revelation, her excruciatingly mundane existence spirals into a nightmarish body horror mystery. Combining physical theatre and sharp humour, HONEY I’M HOME invites audiences to confront the absurdities of modern life in a world increasingly dominated by technology.
Alaine is part of Lester Trips (Theatre), a performing/writing/directing/designing duo with a decade of shared training in physical performance and making people uncomfortable. They create questionably comedic theatre, film, and “digital not otherwise specified”, often revolving around the internet ruining our brains, distorting our sexualities, and how we can’t stop looking at it. You can watch their speculative fiction/ cringe comedy series Content Farm streaming on CBC Gem. Alaine graduated with a Minor in Cinema Studies in 2011.
